An extended press mechanism for removing liquid from a traveling fibrous web (w) including a press nip (P1) formed between first and second members (13, 10) with one of the members being a traveling flexible impervious belt (10) and force means engaging the inner surface of the belt including a sliding shoe (15) facing the belt with the shoe extending transversely across the belt usually of a width less than the belt and also extending in the direction of the belt travel to form an elongated press nip with a means (17) for pressing the shoe toward the belt with a predetermined force, means (20) for providing a film of lubricating fluid between the shoe and the belt and means (22) for removing the excess of lubricating fluid downstream from the shoe including a wiper blade extending toward the belt flexed against the belt to wipe off the lubricant with means (26, 27) to remove the lubricant which is wiped off and means at the side of the shoe to wipe lubricant off the uncompressed portion of the belt and means such as ribs and grooves at the edge of the belt to prevent the lubricant from migrating around the edge onto the web side of the belt.

The invention relates to a pressing device for removing liquid from a moving web of fibrous material, such as paper, and can be used mainly in the pulp and paper industry.
The purpose of the invention is to ensure reliability in operation of the pressing device during the operation of a high-speed paper-making machine.

A press device for removing fluid from a moving web of fibrous material includes loop-like endless squeeze tape 1, first 2 and second-3 elongated press clamps through which the belt passes, formed by the first 4 and second 5 external support means located outside the squeezing tape. Inside the loop of the tape against the respective supporting means, an internal supporting means is mounted, comprising first 6 and second 7 clamping shoes, which have been completed with end surfaces, for applying pressure to the web along the clamps, having an elongated surface in the form of external supporting means. In contact with the tape, the means 8 and 9 passing through the clamps for receiving fluid removed from the moving web, passed through the first and second clamps, the means 10 for supplying lubricant between the surfaces of the shoes and the tape mounted on the entrance side tapes in the first and second clamps, knife tools 11 and 12, containing flexible knives 13, made with a front edge 14 that contacts the surface of the tape on its non-working side, and are installed in series along the movement

The squeeze tape 1 has a longitudinal groove 17, formed on its non-working side, parallel to its side edge outside the end surface 18 of the shoes 6 and 7 and preventing the lubricant fluid from moving across its edge on the tape surface.
Knife tools with flexible knives can be made of the brush type (Fig. 2), with each flexible knife being an arcuate plastic knife 13 (Fig. 5), elastically contacting the front edge 14 with the tape surface. The thickness of each arcuate plastic knife is 0.51-1.52 mm. Arched plastic knives may have a width equal to the width of the shoes. The knife means have additional arcuate plastic knives 19, each additional knife being located on the side of the corresponding main knife 13.
The loop-shaped tape 1 may have an additional longitudinal groove 20 parallel to the main groove outside the end surface of the shoes. Tape 1 may have an additional longitudinal groove 21, executed on its surface facing the canvas, and located directly above the main groove 17.
The device works as follows.
The web of fibrous material, mainly paper, is moved on the belt 1 through the first 2 and second 3 press clips, where it is subjected to compressive pressure along the length of the elongated concave arcuate side of each shoe 6 and 7, in order to be able to squeeze the liquid (water) out of it to the means 8 and 9 for its reception (for example, to felt felt).
The lubricating fluid that forms the hydraulic film between the shoe and the belt is carried away with the belt and must be removed so as not to fall on the edge of the belt and along with it on the side of the belt with the web. For this purpose, use flexible plastic

knives 13. The part of the belt that passes through the corresponding shoe is compressed, and its parts outside the edges of the shoe are not compressed. The lubricant should be removed as quickly as possible and not to fall on the working surface of the tape, this is especially important when working with high-speed paper (of the Cutting machine and is provided with an additional knife 19 that comes in contact with the uncompressed area of the tape and has a longitudinal groove 17 that prevents moving the lubricant to the side of the belt with the web. The groove 17 forms on both sides of the belt the side surfaces that catch the lubricant. The thin grooves can be filled in two (grooves 17 and 20) or one above the other (1 7 and 21).
The invention provides reliability in operation of the pressing device when operating a high-speed paper machine.

Claims (6)

1. A pressing device for removing fluid from a moving web of fibrous material, comprising a loop-like endless squeezing tape of a press, a first and a second elongated press clamps, through which the belt passes formed by the first and second external support means arranged outside the squeezing tape, mounted inside the squeezing tape loop opposite to the respective supporting means, the inner supporting means comprising first and second clamping bashmaks made with face surfaces for pressure to the web along the clamps, having an elongated surface in the form of external support means in contact with the tape, passing through the clamps means for receiving fluid removed from the moving sheet passed through the first and second clamps, means for supplying lubricant between the surfaces of the shoes and the tape, mounted on the side of the entrance of the tape to the first and second clamps, means for removing lubricating fluid such as brushes, containing flexible knives, made with an edge in contact with the top nose
